August 30, 31, & Sept 1 – Harris Knowlton Memorial Ride in Albion

sponsored by Ed & Marianne Cogswell & Tess Carter

Enjoy your horse & friends for the whole weekend or any of the three days, rider’s choice. Ride a little or ride a lot but remember you need to ride a minimum of 2 hours with the scheduled ride to have the hours count toward year-end awards (Trail Riding Rules and Regulations, Part II, Section 1.). You will be given directions to return to the trailer parking area if you want to go back early.

This year is a bit different, with a number of new things put together with my neighbor Tess, who is also a MTRA member.  This ride is a co-sponsored event. Riders are welcome to come Friday after 3 P.M. on August 29th to set up your camp sight for spending the weekend. Ride out time all 3 days will be 10 A.M.

Saturday: The ride will be though the woods ending up with lunch at Tess’ home {we are supplying the lunch, it is a surprise lunch or you can bring your own saddle bag lunch} along with swimming at her pool... SO BRING YOUR SWIMSUITES ... Then after the swim and lunch we will ride back to the farm. A table will be set up in the center of the camping area for all to sit around for supper (do your own cooking, but will all eat together or you can relax at your trailer to have your supper). Then anyone who wants to, will be taken down to Tess’ house (which is at the end of Bessey Ridge) for a campfire, refreshments, and yes, night swimming in the pool, you may bring your own beverages and you need to take your chair. For the adults Tess has a special beverage recipe for you to try.

Sunday:   We are going to start the morning at 7:30 / 8:00 A.M. with us cooking all the riders breakfast. It will be again held a Tess house out side using the deck, after eating we will return to the farm to saddle up and leave by 10 A.M. The ride will be out through woods, where we have some trail games planned for both adults and juniors. You will need your saddlebag lunch this day. After the ride and supper in the field, the evening campfire (Don loves having campfires) will be at Tess' and yes you can also go swimming.

Monday: Everyone gets their own breakfast, you can eat together in center of the field or at your trailers. At 10 A.M. we will be riding down around Love Joy Pond to the restaurant, Field of Greens, so either bring money for lunch or your saddle bag lunches. There is many out side tables along with inside setting...Yes there is a different set up for tying up the horses away from Sammy's farm yard zoo. Today’s ride is around 4 hours, however, when returning to the farm, by popular request of many juniors, there will be a short fun show [like 8 games] for anyone who wants to stay and join in.

Hear Ye… Hear Ye
There is still MORE to this weekend!!!

We would like this to be as family orientated as possible, like the hold family to come camping out not just the horse riders in the house.... Sooooooo Ed is calling all spouses /significant others to bring your ATV's. Tess’ husband Don will be joining in {AK old blue -the ATV needs a front hoof (wheel fixed) or she is going to send it to the slaughter house (front lawn with a for sale sign). So, how about calling it the “guy's ATV weekend.” There are many trails that go in different areas around here...Rob & Rob, Jeff, Dean, Steve, Joe.. Don is calling up Ya Ya Jimmy & Ed is calling up Joe, the more the merrier, that would make the campfire horse stories & ATV tails .... Come along ...China Lake is near, bring your kayak or canoe too.

If it should be wet in the evenings, we will be able to hang out in the barn alleyway,
